Chambers of Commerce in Sabah
What chambers of commerce serve Sabah?
Sabah is served by several business chambers, including the Chinese chambers KKCCCI and SUCCC, the manufacturers' body FMM, bumiputera and Kadazandusun chambers, and the China-focused SCCC and MCCC, all supporting trade and enterprise.
Chambers of commerce at a glance
Sabah's business community is organised through a network of chambers of commerce that represent different sectors, ethnic communities and trade interests. Together they connect members, advocate for business and help promote the state's economy.
Some chambers date back more than a century, while others focus on newer priorities such as manufacturing, bumiputera enterprise or trade with China. This page introduces the main bodies a business owner or investor in Sabah is likely to encounter.
Key bodies include KKCCCI (founded 1911), SUCCC (founded 1955), the FMM Sabah branch, and the China-focused SCCC and MCCC chambers.
Chinese chambers: KKCCCI and SUCCC
The Kota Kinabalu Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KKCCCI) was founded in 1911, making it one of the oldest chambers in Sabah. It has recently installed its 40th board of management, and its website is kkccci.com.
At state level, the Sabah United Chinese Chambers of Commerce (SUCCC) was founded in 1955 as the North Borneo United Chinese Chamber of Commerce. It is a federation of 9 constituent chambers across towns such as Sandakan, Tawau, Tenom, Kudat and Labuan.
Manufacturing and the FMM
The Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) runs a Sabah branch that represents the state's manufacturing sector, including businesses in the Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park (KKIP). It acts as a voice for industry on policy and operational matters.
The branch is based at Alamesra Plaza Permai along the Sulaman Coastal Highway in Kota Kinabalu. It can be reached by phone on 088-447 580 or by email at [email protected], with further details at fmm.org.my.
Bumiputera and indigenous chambers
Several chambers serve bumiputera and indigenous entrepreneurs. The Sabah Bumiputera Chamber of Commerce (SBCC) is over 50 years old, making it one of the oldest bumiputera business societies in the state.
Complementing it is the Kadazandusun Chamber of Commerce and Industry Sabah (KCCI), founded on February 15, 1996. These bodies focus on growing participation and capacity among Sabah's indigenous and bumiputera business owners.

China-focused trade chambers
Trade with China is served by dedicated chambers. The Sabah China Chamber of Commerce (SCCC) is based in Kolombong, Kota Kinabalu, with liaison offices in Sandakan and Tawau, and promotes Sabah-China trade through its site, sccc.com.my.
The Malaysia-China Chamber of Commerce (MCCC) Sabah branch, headquartered on Gaya Street in Kota Kinabalu, facilitates Malaysia-China trade and investment. More information is available at its website, mccc.my.
Support for SMEs
Small and medium enterprises are supported by the SME Association of Malaysia, Sabah region, which offers education, conferences and awards aimed at helping smaller businesses grow and connect with one another.
Knowing the official definitions helps. A manufacturing SME has up to RM50 million in sales or 200 employees, while a services SME has up to RM20 million in sales or 75 employees, shaping which support and incentives a business may access.
